Traded?

Lito Sheppard to be traded to the Bucs for 2nd rounder and Michael Clayton

Looks like Lito Sheppard will be traded to the Bucs. Yesterday he made a trip down to Tampa and whenever a player on Team A makes a trip to see Team B, the odds are a deal is going down.

The skinny on this is that Lito will be traded to the Bucs for their 2nd rounder and wide receiver Michael Clayton.

Who is Michael Clayton you might ask? No, not that Michael Clayton that George Clooney portrayed.

He is a former 1st round pick who started out his career like a house on fire with 80 catches 1,193 yards and 7 TD in his rookie season. Since then he has 87 catches 1,029 yards in THREE seasons!

So, is Clayton a player or a jagoff? Looks like somewhere in between because he's been hurt much of the last three years. He obviously has some potential if he had a rookie season like that, but odds are he's not that player.

The bottom line here is the Eagles are getting market value for Sheppard. DeAngelo Hall set the bar when he landed the Falcons a 2nd rounder. So, you can't say the Eagles are getting ripped off here.

McNabb will make him better because McNabb is a much better quarterback than Jeff Garcia. I know it's sinful of me to say that because Garcia could walk on water.

Look for this deal to get done sometime today or during the draft tomorrow, which starts at 3:00 PM.

As for who the Birds will take that's another story, but Mark Eckel (who I put a lot of faith in) sees them moving up for an offensive linemen. I'm with him there.
