Laying Down

Flyers implode after a 2-0 lead

We've all seen this script play out before and now it's getting pretty goddamn old.

The Flyers started out like a house on fire tonight, storming to a 2-0 lead. And, then the goals kept coming for the Capitals.

One....

Two...

Three...

Four...

And, before you could say "puck" the Capitals were up 4-2 and now have tied this series up.

Alexander Ovechkin, the great boogieman that the Flyers had shut down for 5 games thus far...well he woke up and scored two goals tonight.

The series will now go back to Washington and you can expect the Flyers to lose. It will go down as yet another meltdown in Philly sports history.

I'm bracing myself because I've seen some real turds laid in recent years. I hate to open up old wounds, but do any of the following ring a bell?

The final game at The Vet against Tampa Bay in the '03 NFC Championship game.

The 2004 NFC Championship against Carolina.

The 2005 Super Bowl.

The 2004 Eastern Conference finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Countless Phillies meltdowns in the final week over the years to the likes of the Marlins and Braves.

Smarty F'ing Jones losing the Triple Crown by a pubic hair.

Yeah, it hurts to be a Philly fan. It's really getting old now.

The Flyers will head to Washington tomorrow night to play game seven.

Gulp...good luck.
