Danny Boy

Daniel Briere once again has 2 goals and leads Flyers to 6-3 victory

Daniel Briere, for the second time in this series had a pair of goals (four total for the series) in leading the Flyers to victory.

For the first 16 minutes this game was scoreless and all hell broke loose once Danny Briere knocked in his third goal of the playoffs. And, the Caps answered with a goal of their own just a minute later.

And, the Flyers hit them with back-to-back goals in a 17-second span. Meanwhile, the first period wasn't even over yet!

The Caps answered back in the second period with a goal, but Danny boy had another goal on a power play to make it 4-2 and the Flyers never looked back.

Things got a little hairy when, for the third game in a row, we saw a team get the screw job by the officials when the Caps were awarded a goal on a clear high-stick. And, then one of the Flyers players clearly got taken down while attempting to shoot and the refs didn't budge.

But, then Mike Richards got taken down and the refs came to their senses and awarded him a penalty shot; Richards promptly got the job done to give the Flyers a 5-3 lead.

Mike Knuble capped it off with a goal on the open net after the Caps pulled the ole desperation move by yanking their goalie.

Really, this was a game that the Flyers controlled from the door. And, I attribute this to the fact that the fans brought their A-game. The crowd was a sea of orange and they cheered their loudest from the opening moments.

The 7th man on the ice deserves a co-MVP award for tonight's victory.

And, Martin Biron played a very good game. Really, he only gave up 2 goals since that third one was bogus. Overall, this was a great game in all three phases.

The Flyers now have a commanding 2-1 lead and will face off against the Caps in the Wach on Thursday night.
