Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Eagles ink Asante Samuel to 6 year deal

It's official. The Eagles have signed the #1 available free agent on the market.

It's great news and gives the Eagles at superior playmaker at a premium position and now they have flexibility. They are strong at the cornerback position and with Lito Sheppard bitching about his money and getting hurt every other game they can move him for a position of need (i.e. wide receiver, defensive end, return man).

This was a heck of a move for the Eagles. They got the #1 free agent on the market and a pure ballhawk and somebody who never gets hurt. You read that Lito? Samuel had 16 picks in the past few seasons and has the ability to take it to the house. Just ask A.J. Feely about that. Samuel took one to the house against him in that regular season game this past year.

Asante Samuel talks about why he chose Philly in this clip.

As for the morons who called into WIP bitching about this signing, well some people you can never please. To say this was a dumb signing is sheer idiocy. Sure, they need to do more. We all know that, but they were aggressive on the first day of free agency and got the guy that they obviously had targeted for a while now. That's why they never tipped their hand in regards to the rumors about Lito Sheppard.

Brilliant overall move by the Eagles' brass.

Oakland pass rushing specialist Chris Clemons is in town today. He had eight sacks and 20 tackles in spot duty last year. He'd give the Eagles another weapon on the line and unlike Jevon Kearse, somebody who actually gets to the quarterback.
