Miller Time

Andre Miller dishes out 18 assists in leading Sixers to romp over Bulls

The Bulls were lassoed last night 121-99 at the Wach with relative ease. The Sixers' fast break was simply too much and their swarming defense shut down a Bulls team that is ready to go fishing and obviously not thinking about playing basketball.

You can attribute this one to Andre Miller's 18 assists. Even though he had just 9 points he probably couldn't have been happier to dish out 18 assists and to blow the Bulls out.

He cares about one thing and that's winning and passing second. Scoring comes a distant third for the Sixers' floor general.

Lou Williams led all scorers with 23 points and the other usual suspects showed up as well. Andre Iguodala and Thaddeus Young knocked in 21 and 20 points respectively.

The Bulls were never in this game and from the door the Sixers took the lead and never gave it up.

They are idle tonight and will host the Suns on Friday night.

Official changes at WIP are in

Ok, the word is that Glen Macnow is still moving to afternoon's to co-host the mid-day show with Anthony Gargano. And, Eskin will still be doing his show alone.

The interesting dynamic is that Macnow will be facing off against his former co-host Jody MacDonald, who will do his mid-day show on 950 AM, which was formerly WPEN 950 and is now 950 ESPN.

It seems that the now 950 ESPN station is going with a mix of Philly personalities and ESPN hosts. I don't know what the hell they're thinking with Mike Tirico though. He's too bland for Philly.

Not that I'd ever consider switching from WIP, because they are just simply great at what they do, but anytime I've ever tried to tune into 950 to just see what they had to stay the station was nearly all static.

If you want to try and gain some listeners, try improving your reach. Just a suggestion.

I give this station two years before it becomes another ESPN station and stops trying to compete with WIP for Philly sports talk. Face it, WIP is too good. The propaganda being put out there by 950's accolytes is that they no longer talk sports on WIP. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Once in a while Eskin will devote a show or consecutive shows by talking about Obama, but on the most part he along with the other hosts talk sports. 950 wants you to believe otherwise, because well that's their only hope in trying to pry away listeners.

I respect your opinion Dennis, but it simply is not true that "WIP is too good." I listened to WIP religously for over 10 years but finally made the switch. The last few years that I listened, before 950 came into existence, started to become boring and predictable. They also had an air about them that they were the best simply because they were the only game in town. Angelo Cataldi, who I used to love listening too, has become boring and would rather talk about getting girls dates, eating contests, and ridiculous side talk than talk sports. His time has come and gone, just like his talk show on Comcast did. Many people agree with me that the morning show is better when he takes a vacation. 950 has forced WIP to do more interviews with athletes and writers because they are much more interesting than 24 hours a day of local callers. I also like to hear some national sports talk and not just Eagles and Phillies all day long. It is great to hear Jody Mac on the air in Philly along with Mike Missanelli. Now if they could only get Glen Macnow, who in my opinion is the only good host on WIP. 950 has made improvements and is slowly gaining ground on 610. I know that 610 is way ahead of 950 in the ratings, but 950 is way ahead of 610 in quality sports talk.
