He's Back

Allen Iverson will return to Philly for first time since the trade

One question I've yet to hear asked is, why did the NBA schedule this game so late in the season? You'd think a game such as this would have been put on the slate earlier in the schedule. Heck, it's been nearly a year and a half since Iverson was traded and he's just now returning to Philly.

Just my thoughts on that.

With that said, the timing couldn't be better because the Nuggets are going to be on a back to back, having played the Pistons last night and losing in a shoot out for the ages. The Pistons beat them 136-120.

One thing is certain about the Sixers and Nuggets after this trade. The Sixers are a better team and the Nuggets are no better or no worse. They can't play a lick of defense and will go nowhere. And, the Sixers will continue to get better and play a team game, while improving on defense. I predict the Sixers will be back in the Eastern Conference hunt starting next season.

Iverson brought us many unforgettable moments as a player. He will go down as one of the 25 greatest players ever regardless of what his critics say. He is one of the few greats who didn't make the players around him better though. That's a fact. And, it's on his own accord. He remains an enigma. Just imagine how good he could be if he became a team-oriented point guard.

He chose not to. It's been well acknowledged that his downfall as an athlete is that it became all about himself and his iconic status. And, when I say downfall I mean not becoming a top 10 player all time and winning a championship by modifying his game.

He's that good. Who knows? Maybe when he gets into his mid-30's he'll finally "get it."

Tonight we're in for a hell of a show though. Iverson will and should be greeted with cheers. I'm over the bad things he did in terms of bullying the front office and not practicing. I'm over the lousy ending when he quit on the team. If I were at the game I'd be cheering him.

He was the most electrifying athlete in Philly over the past 25 years. Even more so than Mr. Randall Cunningham.

Eagles to give Earl Bennett a private workout

Don't get too excited about this one. The Eagles are going to give former Vanderbilt wideout Earl Bennett a private workout.

The scouting report on Bennett is that he lacks elusiveness and explosiveness. And, he's not particularly big.

Great, they can draft another bust, jagoff, or chump-to quote the great fans on the Igglephans.com message board.

The Eagles have done nothing to convince me they will ever draft a quality wide receiver. What makes you think they can? In 9 seasons during Andy Reid's tenure the best they could muster was Reggie Brown.

I don't want the Eagles spending any more than a 4th round pick on a receiver at this point. I just can't trust their shoddy scouting on wideouts.
