Get Ready

Get ready for a heavy dose of Adam Eaton

Apparently the Phillies shot down Kyle Lohse yesterday. He was willing to sign with him for $4 million this season. And, they said "no."

Perhaps, the tight wad owners are clinging to their wallets tighter than they ever have due to the extra $3 million they had to dole out to Ryan Howard.

Perhaps, they just don't give a (expletive deleted).

I'm inclined to believe the latter. So, because this ownership group doesn't ultimately care about doing everything it takes to win they're willing to throw Adam Eaton out there as the 5th starter.

Who would you rather have, a dependable starter like Kyle Lohse as the 5th starter or a disaster like Eaton?

Simple question. Simple answer.

The Phillies owners could care less. The payroll of this team is reaching heights of which they haven't been prepared for. They clearly aren't cut out for owning a baseball team. And, with players salaries reaching new heights, now is the time for them to get the hell out.

So, get ready for the Adam Eaton experience. I think I'd rather be tortured by the CIA than watch another summer of his awful starts or even see him appear in a game. He is to pitching what Jesse Timmendequas was to little children, quite simply a nightmare.

And, he will be trotted out there because nobody in their right mind would take this mess in a trade. And, he's owed $16 million of the owners' money over the next two years. And, you can be damn sure they won't want their beloved money to go to a complete waste (but it already has).

There's my first of many Phillies owners rants. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Andy Reid does interview on Howard Eskin's show

Big Red spent an hour on The King's show yesterday. He asked him everything from the importance of wide receivers to questioning him about spying practices.

Overall, Andy Reid didn't say a whole lot. And, why would we expect him to. Not like he's going to tip his hand about pursuing a wideout like Larry Fitzgerald or Roy Williams.

You can listen to the interview through this link. WIP has the podcast available on their website.

Among the best ever

Bill Conlin says the Phillies' fearsome threesome of Howard, Utley, and Rollins are among their best players ever.

I agree.

I know I'm a little subjective because this is the team I'm watching and my generation would agree that they are the best trio ever. However, can you honestly find a better shortstop, second basemen, or first basemen in Phillies' history?

Keep thinking on that.
