Quadruple Whammy

Flyers, Sixers, Phillies, and Nova all lose last night

What are the odds that the stars could have been aligned like they were last night? There were four Philadelphia teams playing last night...well five if you count the Phantoms, but all three pro teams played (The Phillies in exhibition) and Nova played Kansas in the Sweet 16.

Now, what are the odds that all four teams can lose in one night? I'd say you'd have as good of a chance as winning big at the casinos. Well, only in Philly can this happen. All four lost in one evening! Hell, you can't script stuff like this in movies.

First, we'll turn to the Sixers. They didn't even show up for this game and were dead from the door and were down 38-19 at the end of the first quarter. The Suns blew them away like Anton Chigurgh blew away countless victims in "No Country For Old Men."

Next, we'll turn to the Flyers against the Devils in that dump of a stadium in Jersey. They lost in a shootout. I'm certainly not shocked they lost in a shootout, but the Flyers have been playing better in OT and shootout situations. Fact of the matter is the Devils own them; they lost in Jersey for the 12 straight time.

The Phillies were in Philly for the first time last night, hosting the Blue Jays. They lost 3-1. And, they've kicked everybody in the nuts by stating Eaton will be their 5th starter to open the season. Thankfully he won't take the hill for a few weeks because of a 4-man rotation to start the season.

And, finally Villanova tipped off against Kansas just before 10:00 PM and they were overmatched from the door. Kansas probably could have obliterated them if they wanted to, but showed some mercy and beat them by only 15 points. I honestly thought Nova had a chance to keep it close. Heck, I put money on them to cover. Boy, I was wrong.

So, there you have it. Four of our teams laid turds in one evening. It was such a great week up until this point-nearly a perfect week, but when do things always go right in Philly? It's been 25 years since that happened.
