Disastrous Weekend

Phillies lose two straight heartbreakers to Astros and are in a dogfight to win today after Hamels' worst start of season

It was bad enough to see the Phillies lose a frustrating game on Friday night, but it got even worse last night when they nearly came back and Steve Smith (the third base coach, reared his ugly head.

And, to add insult to injury, Cole Hamels had a total stinker today, giving up 6 runs in 4 innings of work.

After the nearly 20 minute delay today, it totally threw Hamels off his game as his first pitch to Carlos Lee went into the left field bleachers- a total moon shot.

All of the Phillies' good will from April has gone down the tubes as they are basically a game better than they were last year at this time.

So, is this team really better than last year? Right now they're not. Brett Myers is killing this team. So, is Pedro Feliz and Shane Victorino.

In fact, if Victorino comes up again in the 9th inning I think I'm going to just shut my TV off so as not to torture myself again with another crushing disappointment. Seriously, how many games in a row will this guy come up to bat in a clutch situation and blow it?

The Astros are hardly a world beater, but the Phillies have made them look like a World Series team this weekend.

Right now the game is knotted up at 6, but if your ace pitcher gets rocked and is out of the game within 4 innings the odds are you're not going to win especially considering how the past two games have gone.
