Another Night On The Offensive

Phillies rack up 7 runs in first 2 innings and that's all they needed

Make that 38 runs in 15 innings. Yep, from the 5th inning of Sunday's game to the 2nd inning of yesterday's game the Phillies were putting up runs at a 2.58 per inning clip.

I bet if you go through their history this is the best 15 inning stretch offensively they've ever had. And, it continued in last night's stormy affair against the Rockies.

It's amazing that this game only got delayed once with the way the T-storms were rolling through PA last night and they nearly got through until the 8th inning as the game was delayed finally.

When they resumed I was stunned to see Brad Lidge being used in a 4-run game. Why in the world would Manuel bring him in when the game was 7-3 at the time? In cases like this you have to save your closer, because lord knows they might need him again tonight and the next night and the next.

Other than that this was another nearly flawless game for the Fightins and a much encouraging game from Kendrick who allowed just two runs in 7 1/3 innings.

Tonight they'll take on the Rockies at 7:05 as they go for the sweep.

Hugh takes a shot at Justice

In today's Daily News Les Bowen talks about his conversation with Hugh Douglas from last night when Hugh ripped Winston Justice, not for his ability, but his heart.

"It just doesn't look like he has any fight in him. If you look at his demeanor, it's like he's not even a football player", said Douglas.

Ouch! Can you be any more harsh.

Having played in the trenches for many years Hugh definitely knows a lineman when he sees one, but Justice was for all intents and purposes a rookie last year and probably over his head.

I think one horrific game against the Giants hardly determines a player's career. Justice deserves more than that at this point.

I heard he just wanted to get Lidge some work because he hadnt pitched due to the recent offensive exposion. I didnt agree with it either..
