Flying The Coop?

Tom Heckert interview with Falcons

Tom Heckert flew to Atlanta, but isn't going to fly the coop just yet.

Word is that Tom Heckert has the Falcons' GM job if he wants it, according to sources within their team.

However, he wrapped up his interview yesterday without a job offer, because they are going to do more interviews and make a final decision this week.

Downey gets off with a warning

Steve Downey is the Flyers' madman. He's to the Flyers what Tyson was to boxing.

Once again Steve Downey got into some hot water, in just his fourth NHL game!

Has anybody ever had such a wild beginning to their career in any sport?

"It's Steve's [fourth] NHL game. He's walking a fine line there, which is basically what he was told. My conversation with Steve was a little harsher than Colin Campbell's", said Flyers GM Paul Holmgren.

Coming and Going

With Joffrey Lupol on the fritz for the forseeable future due to a neck contusion, Simon Gagne is set to return Thursday night.

He likely will wear a neck brace. "I am going to stay here and get two to three treatments; it's helping," Gagne said about not playing at Atlanta tonight. "By staying here, I'll be pretty much 100 percent on Thursday night."
