Big D

Eagles' D shuts down Dallas; Eagles win 10-6

The Eagles did what no other team did yesterday and that's completely shut down and embarrass their offense physically and mentally.

Tony Romo was made to look like Ryan Leaf yesterday. And, for those of you with good memories you'll know that he actually faced the Eagles in a Cowboys uniform back in 2001.

There were so many moments to take away from yesterday-the key turnovers by the Eagles, McNabb getting his elusiveness back, Westbrook's brilliant decision to kneel on the one-yard line to run the clock out, McNabb's rebuttal to Pam Oliver's comments, and Reid's defense of McNabb.

I was amazed to actually see Reid step outside the box and even address the comments made by Oliver.

"If he didn't show you today," Andy Reid said, "he'll never show you. If you can't love him for what he did today . . . then, I don't know. He has been doing it for nine stinking years and he just keeps playing. You're never going to make everyone happy. I think 90 percent of the people love him to death and the 10 percent that don't - those are the [ones] people listen to."

And, face it not many people (including yours truly) expected the Eagles to get a W. And, they did. Does this mean they're suddenly the best team in the NFC? Probably not. They still have too many holes to compete with the big boys yet in the playoffs and the playoffs are a whole different ballgame.

What this does show us is that if they make the moves they should this off season then they're a serious contender. They battled the best team in the NFL tough and should've won. And, they beat the second best team. And, really it wasn't even as close as 10-6. It could have been 24-6 or worse.

And, another thing is certain; McNabb will finish out the season-at least.
