Temple wins A-10 Tournament, defeating St. Joe's 69-64
They did it with suffocating defense and clutch shooting tonight. The upstart Temple Owls, led by Penn import Fran Dunphy have done the unthinkable and that's win the A-10 Tournament.
They will now be in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001.
The Owls were led by Dionte Christmas' 21 points on 8 of 14 shooting. On the other side, St. Joe's star guard Pat Calthes couldn't really ever get it going and had just 14 points and was held to just 5 buckets on 13 attempts.
Now, what does this mean for St. Joe's? Tough to tell right now, but the odds are they'll still be in the tournament since they have 4 wins against schools that are in the Top 50 of the RPI and when it comes down to the bubble teams the RPI reigns supreme.
